本专业旨在培养掌握材料成型基本原理和应用能力的高素质工程应用型人才。通过现代化工程训练，能够从事材料成型方面的设计、加工设备研发与工艺改进、科学研究以及生产和市场管理等工作。本专业是一项集材料科学、成型工艺及自动控制技术于一体的综合性专业。

This major aims to train and cultivate engineers and technicians who have a good knowledge of basic theories of material forming and its application ability, and through modern engineers training, can be qualified in such work as the material forming, the processing techniques, the equipment design and development, scientific research, production management and marketing. This is an inter-disciplinary major integrating material science, forming process and automatic control technology.
